Our breath moves our entire body. It moves with our emotions and vice versa. The natural movement is to breathe in deeply when experiencing an emotion, and then to breathe out completely to express ourselves. You can see this in babies who often breathe with their whole body. As we get older, many of us expand our bodies less with each breath (often due to unexpressed tension). When you breathe fully, all tension should be expelled from the body.
Each breath provides a subtle massage bringing energy and a detoxing mechanism. It is essential to welcome our emotions and the breath is a fantastic instrument for doing this. Breath work brings you more in contact with your body and restores the body flow. Blockages can be dissolved, providing space in your system.
